A first-grade student in DeFuniak Spring Florida was recently suspended for bringing what school officials considered a weapon. Apparently, the kid brought a butter knife to school, and the assistant principal sent the kid home citing his worry for the safety of other students. The kids parents as well as other members of the school staff feel the suspension is ridiculous. When contacted, the local sheriff's department said no crime was committed and disciplinary actions in these situations are left to school administrators.
