With Video Games coming to forefront thanks to the E3 convention this past week, I want to take a look back at simpler times…well, actually…the 90’s weren’t exactly simple when it came to video games. I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to throw my controller against the wall, but I never did because those controllers cost a lot of allowance money!
Here are 5 Problems with 90’s video games that you may have forgotten about:
1. Having to stay up all night on weekends just so you could beat your favorite game, because back in the 90’s there wasn’t an ability to save them.
2. Playing your Gameboy either on a sunny day, or at night and having to shade or hold a flash light over your screen to actually see the game.
3. Having to set a heavy book on your original Playstation because the lens was loose, and couldn’t read the disc.
4. When you’d play video games at your friend’s house and they ALWAYS made you play as Player 2 with the off-brand controller their aunt got them for their birthday.
5. Finally, possibly the worst thing about playing video games in the 90’s…having to return it to the movie rental store before you had the chance to beat the entire game. AHHH!
Despite the mishaps, 90’s video gaming will live on forever. From Super Nintendo to Playstation, it was a time when video game developers were always upping their games. Above all, the best thing about gaming in the 90’s…when you spent $50 for a video game, you got the ENTIRE game. No download codes, no need to pay for extra characters, and no loading screens. Okay, maybe the 90’s were simpler times.
