Despite ending 16 years ago, the 1990's seem to be in the beginning stages of coming back in full force. From a Full House reboot, to a Saved by the Bell themed bar, and now Nickleodeon has announced a "Legends of the Hidden Temple" live-action TV movie.
If you're not familiar with Legends of the Hidden Temple, do yourself a favor and YouTube a couple of episodes, because it is one of the greatest game shows of all time. It put 8 teams of 2 children to the test to in a temple that was "filled with lost treasures protected by mysterious Mayan temple guards", and it was nearly impossible to win, but to the few select teams that did, they walked away with 90s-riffic prizes such as BMX Bikes, and Super Nintendo systems.
The made for TV movie will see three siblings that must conquer a series of obstacles to remain alive, much like the original game show. It will also bring back other elements from the original show, including Olmec, a talking head who knows the secrets behind the temple, the Steps of Knowledge, the entrance to the temple and launching pad for the mission, and cameos from a green monkey, red jaguar and silver snakes, among others.
To be honest, I'm more excited than a grown man should be about this. The Legends of the Hidden Temple TV Movie is slated to premiere in late 2016.
